The lesson that life constantly enforces is ‘Look underfoot.’ You are always nearer to the true sources of your power than you think. The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are. Don’t despise your own place and hour. Every place is the center of the world.

whew. a little Law and Order and off to bed. I’ve grown to appreciate waking up alone, just me and the cat. if Sweeny Todd opens tomorrow I’ll go to the matinee, otherwise I’ll watch Simon Pegg movies.

  • K K is one hot old dude

hotter, even, than when he was young (imho).

“and there’s nothin’ short of dyin’ half as lonely as the sound…”

my dad wanted Kris Kristofferson’s Me and Bobby McGee album. I’d forgotten that KK actually wrote Sunday Mornin’ Coming Down.

I did all my xmas shopping today. I planned out my route so I wouldn’t have to make any left turns.

  • Next month (the beginning of the fiscal year) I am buying the salon downstairs. I wanted to start fresh with the new year making taxes a bit simpler. The current owner wants to be done, however, so saturday I moved my things down and will be working there until the deal closes. The papers are already signed but I pay on the first of the year.

The salon is beautiful, red walls, nice antiques, beige carpet, and brown, alligator-print vinyl in the cutting area. All the hair stations (3) are antique bureaus. The owner took her station with her so I went out and found a new one:

Thursday I was at work from 10am till midnight. I only work late two nights a week and not usually that late. Ten is pretty much the average of lateness. This was my friend Molly, however, and we also had dinner delivered (and Molly brought wine).

I had previously colored Molly’s hair a medium-dark, violet brown. This time we touched up the root and added blond and light-brown chunks to the top:

I cut about five inches off the back in what appears to be an inverted bob/A-line, but is actually a disconnected bob. The hair is cut straight across the back at above-the-collar length but is left long on top from the crown forward:

    We had a nice night.
