“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless–it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”

I’m having a rather upsetting time. in between busyness and feeding people I have been keeping myself distracted by reading RedDwarf episode quotes. I think this one illustrates my situation brilliantly:
“Our deepest fear is going space crazy through loneliness. The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes.”

you reminded me of when the boy was this age (2) and tried to cut the cat’s head off with my sewing scissors…I disarmed him and flipped out making all kinds of squeeky high pitched noises. I took him to the shop to hang out with my boss. he took her aside, his eyes wide, and said in a loud whisper, “Robbie, DON’T CUT THE CAT, bad bad!”
–mehe’s currently in Norway and it’s not going so well. :/

we were so lucky
to have Mr. Rogers. I am so grateful that he existed in my life. Mr. Rogers is probably the best argument I can see for the existence of a higher power.
I hope PBS changes its decision to pull MRN’s weekly syndication. but I guess it couldn’t go on forever.
