DOROTHY PARKER:
To a Much Too Unfortunate Lady
He will love you presently
If you be the way you be.
Send your heart a-skittering.
He will stoop, and lift the thing.
Be your dreams as thread, to tease
Into patterns he shall please.
Let him see your passion is
Ever tenderer than his….
Go and bless your star above,
Thus are you, and thus is Love.He will leave you white with woe,
If you go the way you go.
If your dreams were thread to weave
He will pluck them from his sleeve.
If your heart had come to rest,
He will flick it from his breast.
Tender though the love he bore,
You had loved a little more….
Lady, go and curse your star,
Thus Love is, and thus you are.

I love Dorothy Parker’s poetry.. she expressed the agony of her relationships so beautifully, so bitterly.. I wish she hadn’t had to go through all that pain to create such beautiful works, but I guess you can’t have one without the other..
Still sucks, though.

foshizzle.
you’ve been on my mind lately. that is all.
I missed a whole lot over the weekend!
I just want to give you a big hug and let you hump my leg! Or send amy on her way so you can get it on!
Um, well, you can hump my leg too. It’d be more action than I’ve had in many, many, many months, but in all seriousness, I wish you weren’t hurting. I know that sounds so…so..pitiful. I can never say the right thing. Ugh.
sometimes it can be good… cant it?
I believe in love, above all else, in all it’s wonderful, weird, twisted, excited, erotic, bored, everyday, ecstatic, heavenly and hellish forms. I believe that love is how we know God.
i believe in boobies.
…exactly…oh yeah.
My heart is like the willow
That bends, but never breaks.
It sighs when summer jilts her,
It sings when April wakes.
So you, who come a-smiling
With summer in your eyes,
Do not think that your beguiling
Will take me by surprise.
My heart is set for aching
The moment you take wing,
But not, my dear, for breaking
While there’s yet another spring.
So share my summer pillow,
Don’t spare my autumn aches,
My heart is like the willow
That bends, but never breaks.
(((((HUGS!)))))
I understand you’re feeling low, but girlfriend, you’ve got to put Parker down and go read something completely light and pointless…”Green Eggs and Ham”, or anything Dr. Seuss wrote.
Parker wrote reality to the most painful degree and spent her life fairly miserable…you can do better than that!

I’m not familiar with the poem, but it reads like one of the best blues songs.
I’ll have to pick up some Dorothy Parker. Thanks for sharing…
My favorite Dorothy Parker… this, I know by heart.
In youth it was a way I had to do my best to please
and change with every passing lad to suit his theories
but now I know the things I know and do the things I do
and if you do not like me so– to hell my love with you.
she had another one about suicide where she went through all the methods one could use to kill one’s self… it ended with “You might as well live!”
Yes, I’ll post everything if possable.
Wow.
No … seriously. Wow.
{{{Hugs}}} Hope you come back soon, miss you lots!
i cant find a picture of me and you!
