  • I went on a date this week… dinner and jazz. It was nice but I don’t really feel like talking about it much.

It was one of those days when you look in the mirror and think, “I won’t see anyone remotely compelling today– I look too good.” That’s just how it works.

I love these three sites; I visit them every day–
    The Superficial
    Waiter Rant
Natalie Dee (Huffing it up every weekday)

And of course ElsaElsa several times a day.

    Do you have any recc’s?

  • ooooh boy, look what’s coming next weekend: yummy !

  • no recce because… I’m a slug
but that gershwin is on my wishlist now, thanks!

  • Hee, I love the Superficial and Waiter Rant!

  • A Date! Good for you.

I won’t see anyone remotely compelling today– I look too good. Yes I know how that works. You always run into the guy you want to meet on the bad hair days.

  • It’s like Freud said:  “sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.”
Unless you’re Monica Lewinsky, that is.

  • My parents had that Gerswhin album in cassette tape form–I used to listen to it as a kid. Consequently, I LOVE “Rhapsody in Blue”.

That “superficial” website is such a hoot! I will definitely be following that one.

I’m too tired to think of any cool websites, but I will say to check out this xanga: danielplanet. He’s a really good writer–doesn’t blog often, but when he does it’s a treat.

  • Being the HP Geek I am-
http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org or http://www.mugglenet.com, or http://www.jkrowling.com, or the HP Lexicon but I don’t have the link for it.  Yeah, I’m pretty basic in my needs…
I love those days when I can look in the mirror and say “ALLLLLLLRIGHT!”
Unfortunately, they never fall at times when I need them to.
    Love the music!

  • Please…proceed with caution. myspace, contrary to its explosive like pressure well applied to a facial blemish popularity is a wrecking ground for all things possible. If you dig the bass man, have him dig you on paper or something.

Always one of my personal faves for some low brow easy pick you up humor: http://www.jeffiscool.com. Tons of funny, albeit sophomoric, flash videos.

  • Oh, awesome! I’ve been looking for new sites. I visit http://www.thesuperficial.com often, as well… I also go to http://www.perezhilton.com for more celebrity gossip. I also really like http://www.overheardinny.com and I check http://postsecret.blogspot.com/ every sunday (it’s only updated once a week). I’ve been spending such an obscene amount of time on the internet lately… I need to get over it.

  • the only things i read regularly besides xanga and my bee message board are savage love and post secret.

  • Dinner and jazz is usually a good date, unless of course the date is a total shithead…

For a good laugh, I cruise around Lileks… for the Gallery of Regrettable Food and other fun things (like 1970′s Fredrick’s of Hollywood catalogues)

  • it wasn’t modern jazz was it?

and, motherfucking myspace. THat’s all I have to say about that. Curious about the date, however.

  • nooo, very classic jazz, with sheet music and all. the horn was the only one who played off the cuff and I know him well enough to know that he’s virtuoso enough to have his improv fairly memorized in several different versions. the vocalist was top notch but I was slightly dissapointed to note that a few of her vocal arrangements were Diana Krall, note for note. I love to hear any live music but as you can see on a certain plane I’m highly critical… partially because I know I couldn’t excell beyond that level either.
