Atheiegans– the birth of a new hipster cuisine
We were eating dinner with my mother at the country club tonight (not that I think that’s some chichi thing, cos really this is a small town– but I do like it) and we ran into the former pastor of my mom’s Lutheran church. He and his wife truly are wonderful people and we talked to them for quite a while. They live across the state and we haven’t seen them for about twelve years.
So I think that was the subtext on my mother’s mind when the waitress asked her if we’d all had the buffet or if anyone had just the salad bar. Mom answered, “Oh, that’s right, I hadn’t thought of that. I think Dylan had only salad. After all, he is our avowed……… (I can see her searching for the word) atheist.” “Yes,” I said, “he only eats Christians.”
Oddly enough, my son’s not even a vegetarian. He was just being pissy about eating cos he didn’t want to go to the country club.

this blog is perfect as written -
i can’t even think of something funny to write in response.
Or maybe your mom is just way, way too much like mine.
baha your post and kat’s comment made me pee. I think all our moms should get together and discuss us, they’d have a lot to roll their eyes about.
as my parents get older (and crazier) I laaaaugh. but there’s this quiet little voice in the back of my head suggesting that they laughed at their moms, too. ugh.
Christian for breakfast, Catholic for lunch, followed by a nice light Baptist for dinner….

I enjoy my Pentacostals with a twist of lime.

Thanks for pseudo-blogging over on my page…always a treat.
I’ve got enough socks, thank you…my mom seems to give me some everytime I see her. I really don’t know where she’s getting them from and I don’t ask. It’s quite possible that she’s secretly murdering people and taking their socks.
I love our Moms! lol
very clever!
I love a good Christian and chips, yum yum.
hehee
RYC: I don’t want to give away anything but I wondered the same thing and it did not bother me to see it.
RYC: I heart that video, too. Moreso the song, though…it’s my anthem of the year.
