C. S. Lewis quote:
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless–it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”

Yeah… he’s one to talk.
Personally I find the heart to be made of a substance not unlike silly-putty. You can mold it, shape it, stretch it, fold it and make it take any form you can imagine. You can also press it against memory like one would silly-putty to a comic strip section of the newspaper and take away with it the image of what was touched. And just like silly-putty (in my very own and singular opinion) the heart does not bear up well when put to heavy use. Colors fade, elasticity is lost over time. And sooner or later, one of the parties involved tires of the novelty of the game and loses interest until it is put back into its plastic egg and shelved like all the other toys of childhood.
Man, I’m kinda dark when I’ve gone three days without sleep and have worked three times as many hours as I’ve been scheduled. Go me. But the quote, none the less, is quite true and valid. Regardless of my opinion, yo.
Sweetie, I’m sorry your heart is hurting so! {{hugs}}

thanks, babe, but I’m actually feeling pretty good. I’ve decided my pains often correlate with how little I’m able to open my heart at any given time. the more I open it the less I hurt.
it’s like stretching before exertion.

you always warm my silly putty. in fact, right on top there’s a big sailor heart with “Timmy” in it. <3
I never understood those people that don’t love animals…I guess this explains it. Me? I’ve been having my heart wrung & broken from a young age, but I’m surprisingly alright with it. It seems it’s made of stronger stuff than even I knew.
