I feel so guilty
this doggie came to my door tonight after midnight all wet and bedraggled. I think he’s a shitzu and he’s older. he’s so sweet. the humane society just picked him up. she could use some social skills. I feel like shit about it. I’d totally keep him if I was more of a dog person and my cat didn’t hate all living, breathing beings that are not me. me she merely tolerates generally.
oh yeah, and I’m allergic.
the officer says her blue paper tag means he’s been adopted from the humane society. what the hell? at least he’s chipped then. so sad. I hope I can sleep.

Little dogs, regardless of age get snapped up from the Humane Societies FAST. Plus if he was just adopted, they will know where he came from. It will be ok. He will be fine.

Seriously? You have such a big heart!
Most Humane Societies have a list of people looking for particular breeds and will call when they have one, especially an older dog. Lots of people really want a small dog (under 30lbs) and that’s why when you walk through the kennels you rarely see many dogs of that size. Makes me feel bad for the larger breeds.
This is where I should go all “Bob Barker” and tell everyone to spay and neuter their pets to avoid overpopulation and unnecessary euthanasia. LOL.
Also, there is a reason a lot of folks who work with animals do so, either they don’t have people skills, or they just don’t like people in general. I fall into the second catagory, LOL (‘cept on the internet where my inter personal communications isn’t so person-al.)

Yah. What she said.
you gave love when he was around. that’s all you can do. he’ll be fine. it’s nice that your paths crossed for as long as they did.
You did the right thing!
Someone will probably adopt her pretty quick.. or she is simply lost and her owners miss her terribly.
What a sweet little face – it breaks my heart when people dump animals. Although in this case, it’s just as possible that he got spooked in his new home and took off – maybe they’re out desperately searching for him right now. I hope he winds up somewhere happy and secure, poor little soul. You did absolutely the right thing
you might have returned a beloved pet to it’s owner! and whatever everyone else said, too. you did a lot more than anyone else would do. so good for you!
Oh, come on now. You know it’ll be fine. I’m sure he’s back with his new owner–and just went for a little doggy walk.
I’m sure he belongs to one of your neighbors.
oh and what I really meant to say was at least you got him instead of the coyotes!
aw…puppy…he’ll be okay, sweetie.
