when I was in high school, I repeatedly got in trouble for refusing to say the pledge of allegiance at the beginning of each day. I never understood how they thought they could punish me for that. freaky crazy.
I won’t pledge allegiance to a flag…I don’t recognize “god”‘s sovereignty over me…I don’t BELIEVE in god…and in ANY case, I don’t pledge allegiance to ANYTHING except my friends and family. I could, however, get behind a pledge to attempt to treat all others like friends and family, but I don’t see why that should be exclusive only to americans.
I just felt I needed to explain the poster below. it seemed to have been misunderstood by a few.
here’s another one…

these are great. you rule. i also never said the pledge. we had more than one meeting in the principal’s office over that one.
shocked the shit out of ‘em when i sang the national anthem at graduation! ha!
oooh, scary. good posters.
but on a shallow side note; isn’t that guy holding the gun kind of sexy? in a uni-brow, brooding sort of way?
YOU SICKIE!!! hands off…he’s mine. (snicker)
FRIZZ!! no WAY! I sang the national anthem at graduation TOO!!
i pledged allegiance to a fire hydrant once. i think i might’ve been loaded.
it’s lucky if that’s ALL you did…
I dont believe in flags. the mean nothing to me.
I went to catholic school, I did not pray or say the pledge of allegance… and they left me alone. I think I scared them.
I say “whatever floats your boat!”

If that poster was a woman it’d be my MiL.
And do people get weird if you tell them you don’t believe Jesus to be anything more than a world teacher like Buddha,Confuscious or Mohammad…they don’t like that at all.

Your poster is a good caution in these days of nationalism. People seem to be aware of the damage nationalism has caused in the past but blind to it in the present.
yeah. what he said.
Thankfully we didn’t say the pledge at my HS – I went to a hippie school.
They tried to make me pledge alliegance in highschool and I got in trouble for not knowing it. It took about three hours to get it in the @#$#@ing PE teachers head that non-americans dont have to know it.
i think the pledging concept is neat though. keeps the sheep patriotic – wish we had something like that here.
