my new kettle. I’m tired of worrying if the aluminum from my grandmother’s kettle will give me alzheimer’s. I mean, hell, my grandmother has alzheimer’s… it wasn’t such a big deal when I was Too Much Coffee Woman, but now I’m drinking green tea every day. lots.
I wanted a nice japanese iron kettle, but it turns out that you’re not supposed to boil the water in them. well what is the point of that? I have plenty of tea pots, what I need is a kettle. oh well. plus, there is the aesthetic changing boats midstream factor…I have kind of a bone china/ceramic/english theme going on with me tea wear, and I don’t exactly need to start branching out. I have six pots, twenty cups, scads of vintage linens, and I have finally found the strainers I was looking for:
I’ve been searching for this exact thing, online and irl for three years now. finally. I also have three of those tiered snackie plates I adore. mmmmm…water cress sammies!
I guess it’s time for another formal tea. it’s been long enough that I’m willing to ignore my vow of “AS GOD IS MY WITLESS, NEVER AGAIN!”

ooh, sign me up, woman, i’m coming for a tea party! the kettle looks very much like the pattern on my mason’s china that was my grams.
you said you had bad dream rescues? spill.
ROFLMAO… “witless”… I think the cliche there is “witness”, but witless is lots funnier. Thanks for the laugh.
Kettles and all those things are very important. That’s a cute one. Mine (found for $2 at Salvation Army) is the black, art deco model, duplicate of one in the Museum of Modern Art. I love it. Basic black goes with anything.
I just retired my teapot! I got one of those water dispensors that have hot and cold, always ready and ooh la la, my quality of life is off the damned page now!
I would LOVE To have Instahot…but I know my feral children would scald themselves withing hours of its installation. example: the baby just rubbed an entire lipbalm over the seat of the new red sofa. sigh.
OOOOHH PRETTY!
Verrrrrry pretty! I need to get a kettle. I love the cucumber sandwiches with the cream cheese! We have a hotel here that puts on high tea everyday-you’ve got me hankerin to do that again…

Ah, nice. With my diet and propensity for the Oriental I enjoy Chanoyu, but that would be branching out quite a bit for you. But the accouterments don’t have to be expensive. In fact, that’s more of a Western abomination revealing our inability to grasp the basic concept of equal. But the tea tastes like crap. *smile*
i’m a tea whore.
there was this great place in victoria when I lived there..I can’t remember the name of it but they made all of these different types of teas..over 100. You go to a huge barrel full of tea and fill a tin full of the good stuff. My favorite was Japanese Cherry Green Tea. I’m sure it cost more than heroin per gram..
I know they have a website and you can order..why didn’t I think of this before?.. I’ll get back to you on that.
God, it’s been years since I’ve “done tea”…Mom and I used to go downtown a couple times a year and have high tea at the Jefferson Hotel in DC. Sigh. I love tea – in a spiffo hotel or just on my couch in a mug.
PS…can I use ‘witless’????

I have never aquired a taste for tea. But Im with Vm, hot water dispenser is wonderful. You can purchase a small one to go ontop of your counter and they do have child proof ones.
Very pretty!
Gorgeous!!
I have an OXO kettle, its the best. and an iron one, its soo nice to use when we’re having dinner, it stays hot. I drink tea almost everyday, its goood shtuff.
What do the snack plates look like? I have some glass snack trays with their own cups and even a little section that’s supposed to be the ashtray! They’d be perfect for watercress (or cucumber) sandwiches.
SMOOCH.
