last night we watched Brazil
first time I’d seen it outside the theatre
my my, how timely
I hope I’m not eaten by vicious rogue paperwork
I’ve had the title song running through my head:
- Brazil…
Where hearts were entertaining June
We stood beneath an amber moon
And softly murmured someday soon…
We kissed…
And clung together
Then…
Tomorrow was another day
The morning found me miles away
With still a million things to say
Now…
When twilight dims the skies above
Recalling thrills of our love
There’s one thing I’m certain of
Return…
I will…
to old…
BRAZIL.
- in the middle of the night, early morning, and getting out of bed the last two days, I’ve woken myself, my own voice singing in my head:
- enjoy…yourself…it’s later than you think
enjoy…yourself…it’s later than you think
the time goes by as quickly as a wink
enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself it’s later than you think!
- my, how bright and merry…
you’d think, yes?

is this brazil by updike? i just finished reading it a couple of days ago and found it amazing. i wondered if the movie was the same.
okay…just saw the pictures…i’m thinking not?
I’m thinking not too
brazil the film, co-written by Terry Gilliam, of Monty Python fame. it’s like the Holy Grail meets Blade Runner.
it’s really kind of scary, though…no? made me ill-at-ease.
Thank you, Lord, for Terry Gilliam
Great great movie, and that second song was embossed on my first wedding’s invitations (a hint of things to come?)…so when should we get together and consumate our love?
wu…you are SO freaking me out. what is with our constant flow of synchronicities??
I have mixed emotions about it. Like watching my mother-in-law go over a cliff. On brand new Ducati.
I saw it the first time in H.S. while drunk on G&Ts and it made no fucking sense. I saw it ten years later sober as Mormon and it STILL made no fucking sense. And I even made it all the way through without passing out the second time around.
The first time I saw this… I felt really stupid. One of those movies I just didn’t ‘get’ until I’d seen it a couple of times. I’m still not sure if I get it, daggone it.
i really hope to god this is better than gangs of new york. i fell asleep watching gangs in the first ten minutes…then again…i just took a xanax :O
Brassieres
They shouldn’t cause you any tears
When you are looking in the mirror
oh Brassieres.
brazil is one of my favorite movies. I adore it. terry gilliam is brilliant
I saw it years ago (probably on beta) I always assumed it was either too confusing and scary or too intelectual for me… it’s a toss up.
o___o
This is the first I’ve ever heard of it…I guess it’s probably worth a shot…I loved Holy Grail, but wasn’t too keen on Blade Runner…is it worth it?
-M
never seen it. but the guy who did my tat also did this.
OH MAN…that is BEEEEYOOOOOOOOTIFUL work! I want him to do my next one.
he’s the shit, for real. everything about his work, i love. charges out the rectum for it, too. mmm, rectum.
Man that is great work, although of all the great Brazil references, that is low on the list of tats I’d come up with.
i dunno how i feel about brazil… it kind of freaks me out. do you still love me?
it’s okay, it freaks me out too, hence I haden’t seen it in 18 years. freaks me out is good (brazil); freaks me out and makes me BARF is bad (eraserhead). no kidding, I barfed…I was sober even…it was three in the afternoon.
