we went to the drive-in movies last night, the kids and I. we also took dylan’s friend sean. it was the first time I’d seen him in three and a half years. nice. it was a sweet time. we loaded up on pillows and quilts, even took the car-blanket from sean’s dad’s car. yummy. there’s nothing like cuggling in the car, watching a movie that’s blaring through your radio.
I was a little worried about the car starting afterward. they no longer use those post speakers. I kept remembering the last time I was at the vue-dale. it was raining and we had to use the windshield wipers on the vacuum cleaner (white escort wagon). when it came time to leave the car wouldn’t start. oh yeah. but it was fine this time. I think we’ll go again the next weekend I have the kids.

aww, that so sweet.
sadly enough, I’ve never been to a drive-in movie… they sound like so much fun, though.
I’ve been to enough drive-ins for many a person. And yeah…the battery worry is quite valid. I miss drive-ins and also miss the speakers on the posts. Though, driving through the drive-in lot is quite a bit safer w/o ‘em.
Whaddya see??? Did you save me any popcorn??? Could I beeee anymore nosey???

Wow! No more speakers you hang in the window? I guess it’s been a while. Well, that’s enough change for me. I think I’ll crawl back into my cave now.
cool!!
Wow, they still have drive-ins? I haven’t been to one in about 20 years, haha.
oh man that sounds like sooo much fun!
Our drive-in has both the post speakers AND the radio broadcast…it just opened for the season two weeks ago, can’t wait til they have a double feature I actually WANT to see.
Good times.
I bring a boombox and set it up in the back window deck.
There’s a cool drive in not too far from me, it has those things that hook into your radio too. Two first fun movies for $5 a person, which is a fine deal for me. I go there a lot. It’s a great place to spend a summer night. Only drawback is that it’s near Smith Brothers dairy, so sometimes on warm nights, you get eau de cow poop. Yummy!
Were you in *the* white escort?
I made a typo right there. It’s two first RUN movies, as in new movies.
Wow, the only time in my life I’ve ever been to a drive-in was to see “Freaky Friday”…the original. I fell asleep. But that’s still a great memory.

the only drive-in around here closed well over a decade ago – not enough housing developments in new jersey, see, and it was really important to make way for more people. i’m gonna run for governor on the platform “new jersey is full. go somewhere else.”
sounds like a really good time, one of things the kids will all remember and wish they could do for their own children.
I don’t think there are any left around here… Last time I went to one was Batman. No speakers then, either, but the car radio.
in the town I grew up in there was (and still is) a drive-in. from the cemetary up the hill there’s a perfect view of the screen from behind this big pyramid some crazy mason built for his dead family. so we would bring a radio and sit up against the pyramid and watch the drive-in for free. it was a hoot. I wonder if kids still do that today… I hope so.
drive ins taught me how much i would go on to hate having sex in cars.
Good Times … good times.
Now I wanna go to the drive in …
what movie did you see? Shrek?
The vacuum cleaner whindshield wiper thing threw me and now I can’t find my way back on the ride.
