Lord Byron
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

One of my fave poems ever…I got nothing on the shoe, though…heh…

Oh, and you should have given us a link to the shoe, I might need some of those, you know.
Very cute! I’m considering bidding on a pair of Birkenstock Avila Mary Janes on Ebay because they’re so awesome and I can’t pay the $250 retail for them.
I’ve never read that poem before. I liked it. Those shoes look awesome!

They are not fuck-me shoes. But then that’s not a fuck-me poem either.
That’s a passionate dance me around the ballroom kind of poem, the kind where you know that the knickers came off later in the night….
